The current UKRAINE situation?

Can someone please explain the current CRISIS in Ukraine. I follow EU news quite a bit, but this came out of nowhere. The president dissolved parliament?? Correct? Because of recent other events there this sounds like it could be explosive. Yes? No? Some of the recent events feel like the workings of the Cold War.
