8th grade relationship advice.?

i'm in 8th grade and i really like a 9th grader for almost a year now. we text all the time, but not hangout seeing as he's in high school now. we dated for about a month once but he broke up with me fora nother girl. theyve been broken up for a while now and hes asked out a different girl who has said no. but i really like him and i think he thought of me as too much of a kid becuase we never kissed and i was so nervous around him and we like only texted and hungout like twice with other people around. it wasnt much of a relationship and oi want him to know i like him still and that i want to go out in a more mature relationship rather than our kiddish one last time. should i do it ? can you help meee?
